A stolen vehicle that was taken from Wellington last night lead to two pursuits overnight around the city. The vehicle was then seen at Kāpiti this afternoon, which lead to another pursuit.
Sergeant of Kāpiti Police Maurice Parker says: “It disappeared and then we saw it again, and we tracked it here. It was parked up on some rural roads south of Ōtaki.”
Police tried to box in the stolen vehicle, but it went through a padlocked fence where it sustained a lot of the damage on the left front side.
“It was spiked a couple of times and was travelling at about 5k – 14k’s,” he said.
The vehicle collided with a tanker truck while escaping a police vehicle, bringing the pursuit to an end on State Highway 1 in Ōtaki.
Two alleged criminals were arrested, but charges are yet to be laid. They will appear in Wellington District Court tomorrow.
