Supercheap Auto will be closing its Masterton-based store over lease renewal negotiations between trust lands trust.

The last day of trading will be on May 16. It has left locals furious about the decision and now they will have to travel further.

Concerns were raised on social media that the closure will be a loss to the community as it was a popular destination for many because its customer service focused on care and was of value.

A statement released reads: “We regret to advise that Supercheap Auto Masterton will be closing down, and the last day of trade will be Sunday 16th May.”

Those that wish to continue buying products from the brand in the Wairarapa will now have to go to either Palmerston North's store on Rangitikei Street or Upper Hutt's King Street shop.
