Fire and Emergency crews from Levin, Shannon and Foxton took to heat battling a fire that broke out at Shannon’s Club Hotel overnight on Monday.

According to reports, the fire started shortly after 12:53 am.

Access north and southbound on State Highway 1 was blocked off. A detour was placed for motorists to use State Highway 57.

The scene was guarded overnight until the morning.
