The Te Huia Train from Hamilton to Auckland become stranded following a delay mishap that lasted over two hours, Wednesday morning.

Delays were caused due to a train that had unfortunately broken down further up the line at Paerata.

Te huia left Hamilton at about 5.45am and was put to a halt at Pukekohe, 8 kilometres from Auckland's Papakura railway station.

It wasn't until about ten o'clock that the train resumed its service.

The delay has caused a significant problem for passengers travelling to attend meetings or go to work.

A replacement bus had been sent for passengers to use so they could be taken to Papakura.
