The Clean Car Wash service launched in Levin with a grand opening on July 23, which looks to make vehicles shiny once again. In addition, the franchise offered free car washes through the weekend to get people interested in their service.

Free car washes were available from 9am to 4.30pm on Friday through to Sunday. A sausage sizzle and a number of giveaways had been provided on-site as part of the launch.

People can find the business at 150 Oxford Street between the Gull gas station and BNT Automotive buildings.

Director Fran Spicer says it is a brand new business in the Levin area, and to get it started, they offered a ‘three-day free car wash' scheme. The response has been good so far.

“We are doing three days of free car washing so the locals can get to use the gear and see how it works,” she said.

“It is a little trial period. There's been lots of positive feedback so far.”

It is a self-service system operating 24/7 and manned with staff between 9am and 4pm to offer valet cleans. Friends and family attended to assist with the launch over the weekend.

There's assurance that the business has made an effort to recycle and reuse water instead of creating waste.

All water is captured into pump tanks, then cleaned out by a truck.

The system uses less water in a day than a cafe would as a comparison to its efficiency.

About fifty percent less water is used than washing a vehicle at home with a hose.

Water that has been used goes into a trade waste system that does not go directly into waterways.

Chemicals used at the site are biodegradable. Their waterless washing system uses zero water and creates zero waste where such drainage cannot be established.

“We purchase all chemicals through New Zealand owned companies. The Council would rather people come to use this facility rather than doing it at home,” Spicer said.

There's also a range of valet options for those who want to drop off their vehicle.

Those choosing this option can sit back and relax or go shopping while professional staff get cleaning to make their vehicle shiny on the outside and clean on the inside.

Booking in with the supreme clean option includes free pickup and delivery service.

“For a lot of local people, especially the elderly, will be able to keep their cars clean,” Spicer said.

“It is tricky to drag all the vacuums and cleaning equipment out, so that is what we are here for.”

Currently, the business is running a Facebook page competition where people just have to like and share to be in to win a free year of car washes.

There are plans to launch a dog wash facility in the month ahead for those who like to keep their loved ones fur looking fresh, clean and smelling great.

The service will provide appropriate gear instead of using a bath or shower at home.
