Emergency services rushed to the scene of three cars that were involved in a crash on State Highway 57 near Levin in Horowhenua.
Two cars were considered to be completely damaged from the crash.
The crash happened shortly before 10pm at the intersection of Arapaepae Road and Queen Street.
As thisquality understands, according to reports, five people were involved. One person was extracted from one of the vehicles.
A helicopter arrived at the scene shortly after to airlift one seriously injured patient to Palmerston North Hospital. Four St John ambulances were in attendance.
The road was closed while cleanup and investigation into the crash circumstances took place. The road reopened at around 11:55 pm.
