Metlink announced that after wild weather overnight and throughout the morning, some parts on the train tracks between Porirua and Waikanae were obstructed which lead to delay times travelling by train.
The train was put to a halt at around 11:00 am this morning.
“This morning we were dealing with a track obstruction, which caught out one of our train services,” said Metlink in a statement.
No one was injured or harmed on this train service — “Thankfully no one had been injured or harmed on this service.”
There was a slip just north of Plimmerton which caused the train to sustain damages.
“Our train did not fair too well with the major slip.”
Staff at Kiwirail attended the scene to work on clearing the train units and the obstructed track.
“Due to the nature of this obstruction; this will take up the majority of the afternoon for it to be cleared.”
