The Ministry of Health reported two symptomatic crew members as confirmed Covid-19 cases aboard the Mattina container ship docked in Bluff, Monday afternoon.
They have been placed in quarantine after returning positive test results for the virus.
It was reported that the Marshall Island-flagged vessel arrived at the port on Sunday night.
Rapid tests were ordered following the results of the two symptomatic cases. Their condition is said to be improving since contracting the virus.
All twenty-one crew members that were on board had been tested early this morning. Results will return later tonight.
Both crew members joined the ship while in Singapore on July 2 but returned negative pre-departure tests at the time.
There's no public risk of anyone contracting the virus in the community as the vessel is in a secure area of the port that is inaccessible with fencing.
