Watch as fire trucks block Rangiora Rd after a fire breaks out at a private property near Reikorangi at around 12:50 pm.

13 Fire and Emergency NZ fire trucks were sent from Waikanae, Paraparaumu and Te Horo and Horowhenua to the fire. One tanker was at the scene.

The road come to a complete closure while smoke clouds covered the surrounding area as it posed risk to spreading further.

The fire started with bamboo and pine trees.

At this time there is very little information about how the fire started and what exactly happened, although, one building was reportedly destroyed.

A thisquality journalist approached a property owner involved for a comment on the incident but they did not want media attention or want to speak to media on the fire.

The Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson was busy at the time and no comment was made about the incident.

An OIA has been requested for further detail and comment on what caused the fire.
