An announcement made by The Warehouse Group on Thursday says they will supply staff with free period products across all of its stores.

The rollout of period products will include all offices and distribution centres nationwide, including at stores such as Torpedo 7 and Noel Leeming.

Making the move will greatly reduce the impact on the much-needed needs of period products to over 11,000 employees employed by the company from Thursday.

Product Officer Tania Benyon says the decision made was the right thing to do.

“It wasn’t something that was a hard decision, we provide other things in bathrooms so why not this,” Ms Benyon said.

“Our team should have the same access to period products in the workplace just as they would any other basic bathroom necessity.”

Ms Benyon added: “We know people can get caught out without products while at work, which can lead to feelings of unease, embarrassment and even shame.”

“We hope that through providing period products in team bathrooms, we can help to eliminate any anxiety surrounding menstruation.”

The Warehouse Group initiated a trial last year of customer donation bins inside ten stores which showed it was a good cause.

“We were able to reach those in the community in need of products and education,” Ms Benyon said.

“What we saw was how much our customers wanted to get behind the cause too, and we're pleased now to be introducing donation bins to sixteen more stores.”
