An unmanned SpaceX craft exploded at the end of a test flight in Cameron County, Texas.

The starship named SN8 crashed down to earth, setting off a massive fireball after reaching an altitude of around 40,000 feet over Boca Chica.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk says the test was a success on Twitter.

“Successful ascent, switchover to header tanks & precise flap control to landing point!”

In another tweet, Elon says: “Fuel header tank pressure was low during landing burn, causing touchdown velocity to be high & RUD, but we got all the data we needed! Congrats SpaceX team hell yeah!!”
