Wellington Police located the body of a woman at Hataitai Beach in Evans Bay Parade today.
The body of the woman was located at around 9.45am by authorities.
She was identified as a 64-year-old Hataitai woman.
Reports indicate the death is being treated as unexplained during the early stages while enquiries follow.
A post-mortem will be carried out on Thursday.
Members of the public within the vicinity of Evans Bay Parade and Hataitai beach are being asked by Police if they'd seen a woman dressed in sportswear between 5.30am and 9.30am, to contact them.
