Wings Over Wairarapa has announced this morning that they have canned the remainder of their show due to COVID-19 Alert Level changes.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced in a press briefing on Saturday night that Auckland would move to Alert Level 3 Lockdown. Simultaneously, the rest of New Zealand goes to Level 2 following a COVID-19 Community Case identified in South Auckland.
“Tonight, the Prime Minister announced an alert level change. Auckland is to move to Alert Level 3 and the rest of the country to Alert Level 2,” said Event Manager Jenny Gasson.
It was a difficult decision to make for The Board team of Wings Over Wairarapa to decide whether going ahead was worth it or not.
They’d expressed that there is an ‘absolutely gutted’ feeling over the new lockdown changes.
“The health and safety, and the health and safety of our volunteers, crew and pilots is paramount. We are [also] following Government and Ministry of Health guidelines.”
