Transparency, context, and factual accuracy are prioritised, ensuring readers receive well-supported insights that are often overlooked by mainstream media.
As an independent news platform, thisquality upholds the core values of journalism — truth, integrity, and accountability — while continuously pushing the boundaries of independent reporting. Samuel Hudson (Sam preferred) is an up-and-coming integrity journalist and Founder of thisquality.
Raised in the Kāpiti Coast town of Ōtaki, Sam developed a strong sense of community and passion for independent storytelling and expanded it from the small township to the wider Wellington region. Now, the platform is at a point where it will become a national political site for local stories across the nation.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Sam relocated to Dunedin to study at the University of Otago. Before moving south, Sam gained early journalism experience by reporting live COVID-19 updates and attending press conferences as an independent blog writer, helping shape thisquality into a trusted platform ahead of its public launch at the end of 2025.
Sam is committed to delivering credible, transparent journalism, holding power to account through detailed fact-checks and a focus on "truth reporting." He is also a passionate advocate for Māori rights, culture, and history, working to embed these values into thisquality’s reporting and amplify Māori voices across Aotearoa New Zealand’s media landscape.
