Murder charge laid after man found dead at Wharepai Domain

A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of Tauranga man Dax Rodney Holland, whose body was found at Wharepai Domain.

The accused was arrested Friday and is scheduled to appear in Tauranga District Court today.

Holland, 54, was discovered at the central Tauranga park on Saturday February 14. Emergency services were called to the scene about 2pm.

A homicide investigation was launched after a post-mortem examination confirmed the death was suspicious.

The arrest is part of ongoing enquiries and authorities are continuing to seek information from the public.

Investigators are urging anyone who was at or near Wharepai Domain before 2pm on February 14, and who may have seen unusual or suspicious activity, to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact Police online at 105.police.govt.nz and use the reference number 260214/8937, or call 105. Anonymous information can also be provided to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
