Crash between car and motorbike leaves one seriously injured

Northbound lanes on State Highway 1 at Meremere reopened after a serious crash this afternoon.

Emergency services were called about 1.45pm to reports of a collision between a car and a motorbike.

One person suffered serious injuries and was transported to Middlemore Hospital. They were later reported to be in a stable condition.

Northbound lanes were closed from Hampton Downs Road, with traffic diverted and able to re-enter the expressway at Springhill Road while the scene was cleared.

The Serious Crash Unit was advised.
