Matthew Tukaki takes the mic on Waatea Breakfast Show

Matthew Tukaki will take the mic on Waatea Radio’s Breakfast Show tomorrow morning, filling in for veteran host Dale Husband while he is away on assignment in Christchurch.

Tukaki will lead the morning programme from 7am in what is expected to be a one-off appearance, bringing listeners the latest kōrero from across Aotearoa. If the response from audiences is strong, it could open the door to more appearances on the Breakfast Show.

Husband is currently in Christchurch on assignment. He is one of Māori media’s most recognised voices and leads Waatea’s flagship Breakfast programme. His morning slot is a key platform for iwi leaders, politicians and community advocates to front on the issues shaping Māori and wider communities.

Waatea News in a statement said the programme will continue its “strong focus on local voices, current affairs and issues affecting whānau across the country”.

Listeners can tune in live through the Waatea News website, on iHeartRadio, and via Waatea’s Facebook livestream.
