Pedestrian dies after early-morning crash in Haruru

A pedestrian has died following a serious crash in Haruru in the Far North early this morning.

Emergency services were called to Puketona Road about 12.10am after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle near the Garden Court intersection. Despite efforts by first responders, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Puketona Road was closed for several hours between Haruru Falls Road and Te Karuwha Parade while the Serious Crash Unit carried out a scene examination. The road has since reopened.

Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
