I agree that Winston Peters’ actions are mirroring Trump’s style but, to be honest, I don’t think the comparison fully captures Peters’ own unique approach. His constant provocation of the media seems more calculated than just trying to get under their skin – it’s almost like a distraction tactic. And I’m not convinced calling him the ‘Kiwi Trump’ helps to convey that.
I’m curious how you see the parallels between Peters and Trump actually playing out in New Zealand politics??? Isn’t it fair to say that our country has a different temperament and more laid back approach to politics compared to the States?
A disturbing trend with Winnie the POOH and New Zealands First’s reliance on tenious inflammatory stuff. Peters is successfully polarising the community and deliberately making xenophobic sentiments. I bet his loyal supporters may feel empowered by these actions, it’s hard to see how they benefit the community when it comes to pressing issues.I think it’s high time the government took a stronger stance against Peters’ harmful claims and ensured that our politicians are held accountable for their actions.
