Four injured in violent incident that drew armed Police to Northcote property

Armed Police and multiple ambulances swarmed a Christchurch street after a violent shooting incident that left several people injured.

Emergency services rushed to Hoani Street in Northcote on Wednesday night.

A large Police presence was at the scene, with at least six ambulances and multiple patrol cars in attendance.

Police vehicles were speeding through Northcote and nearby Papanui, with sirens heard across surrounding streets.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 9.30pm.

A resident on nearby Wilmot Street said in a social media post emergency vehicles “screamed past” their home as police and ambulances rushed toward the scene. They told thisquality they had only just arrived home minutes earlier when the vehicles shot past.

Three men, aged 19, 31 and 40, have been arrested in relation to the incident. They have been charged with aggravated wounding and aggravated robbery.

Two of the men are due to appear in the Christchurch District Court today, while the 40-year-old is due to appear in the Dunedin District Court.

Four people were injured following an altercation at the address last night.

Two of the four injured victims were transported to hospital. Two others received either minor or moderate injuries.

Additional patrols will continue in the Northcote area as enquiries progress, with authorities reassuring residents they do not believe there is an ongoing risk to the wider public.

Police had previously appealed for information as enquiries progressed. Three arrests have now been made and Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
