Appreciate this thought-provoking opinion piece. It introduces a crucial issue in government communication that there is the lack of empathy and authenticity from our leaders.

I have to agree that one of the main issues with Luxies leadership style is his lack of authenticity and a lot of New Zealanders are not only struggling with everyday issues but also feel disconnected from their government.

Luxon’s problem is an authentic one because he thinks he is a CEO delivering a corporate message rather than a leader empathising with the struggles of New Zealanders. His words fall on deaf ears as we’ve yet to see genuine connection from the government to those who need it most.
