Martyn Bradbury hospitalised after medical emergency, suffers three broken ribs

New Zealand political blogger and commentator Martyn Bradbury has been hospitalised following a medical emergency that left him with three broken ribs and significant blood loss.

Bradbury shared details of the medical emergency with thisquality from hospital in the early hours of Wednesday morning, saying he had spent the night in the emergency department.

“I’m afraid there was a medical emergency. I had 3 broken ribs and a lot of blood loss – have been in emergency department all night,” Bradbury told thisquality.

Bradbury has also publicly shared a photograph of himself receiving care in hospital to his social media.

Messages of support across his social media page are being sent following news of his hospitalisation.

Comments included “Get well soon,” “Wishing you a speedy recovery,” and “Look after yourself Bomber,” while another wrote, “Rest and recover well. Look forward to seeing you back online when the time is right.”

Matthew Tukaki, Chief Executive of Waatea News and Radio Waatea and a regular contributor to The Bradbury Group, said at about 7.40pm on Tuesday that the live programme scheduled for that night had been postponed.
