Search and rescue drill to take place across Northland over weekend

Northland residents are being alerted to a large-scale search and rescue training operation set to take place across the region this weekend.

The exercise will run from Friday through to Sunday, led by Northland Police Search and Rescue.

Multiple emergency and volunteer agencies will take part in the coordinated drill, aimed at strengthening response capability and improving how teams operate together during critical incidents.

Participating groups include Land Search and Rescue, Coastguard, Amateur Radio Emergency Communications, Surf Life Saving, Red Cross, and the Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand.

Personnel will be active across parts of Northland as scenarios are carried out under real-time conditions.

Authorities are advising the public not to be alarmed by an increased emergency presence, confirming all activity is part of a planned training exercise.
