Stolen Subaru spotted speeding in Papakura, tracked to Tuakau arrest

A stolen car speeding through Papakura late at night has been recovered after Police tracked the vehicle south across the district.

Officers first spotted the Subaru travelling at excessive speed along Beach Road about 11.45pm. The vehicle continued towards Chichester Drive before heading onto State Highway 1.

Police monitoring systems picked up the vehicle as it travelled south near Ramarama. The car later exited the motorway at Razorback Road.

The Subaru was then followed as it continued towards Tuakau, eventually stopping outside a rural address near Tuakau Bridge.

Officers moved in and took four people into custody at the property. The stolen vehicle was recovered at the scene.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with burglary and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle. He is expected to appear in the Pukekohe District Court at a later date.
